Cake Mountain Controls and the Dig Loop
Move, swing the spoon, fill the bag, sell, upgrade, and share an eight-player kitchen.
Cake Mountain plays like a Roblox incremental, not a custom fighter with unique keybinds. FUNgry released it on July 20, 2026 as a free kitchen sim: walk up to a giant rainbow cake, activate the spoon, pack slices into a bag, sell them, and buy a better spoon or bag. This page is the mechanical how-to. If you have not sold a single bag yet, start with getting started and come back when the camera, the bag, or other players are the thing slowing you down.
Default Roblox movement
On keyboard, move with WASD. On a phone or tablet, use the thumbstick. Those are Roblox defaults. Cake Mountain does not ask you to learn a new locomotion scheme before you can dig. Sprint and shift-lock behave like other experiences on the platform. If WASD feels inverted, check your Roblox movement mode in the escape menu rather than hunting an in-game settings pane that may not exist.
Look around with the mouse on desktop or by dragging on touch. Right-click drag is the usual Roblox camera pan on PC. Scroll or pinch to zoom if the cake fills the whole frame and you cannot see the sell area. Jump with space or the jump button to step onto a higher layer or off a ledge. The mountain is a layered cake in a kitchen; vertical movement matters once you stop farming the slice at your feet.
Tool activation and the spoon
The spoon is a tool. Activate it the way Roblox tools always activate: left click on desktop, tap or the on-screen attack button on mobile. You do not need a combo list. Face the cake, stand close enough that the swing connects, and keep activating until the bag is full. If the tool is not in your hand, open the backpack / hotbar and equip it. A wooden spoon in the official kitchen screenshot is the visual you should expect at the start — this wiki does not name later spoons because FUNgry has not published a named upgrade tree.
If swings do nothing, you are probably too far from the cake, looking at a wall, or already at bag capacity. Move closer, look at a layer, and sell if the bag is full. That single check solves most “the game is broken” reports on incrementals.
The core loop: dig, bag, sell, upgrade
- Dig slices out of the cake with the spoon.
- Store them in the bag until it is full.
- Sell the haul for coins.
- Spend coins on a stronger spoon, a bigger bag, or later on speed and sell value.
- Return to a deeper or more valuable layer and repeat.
That loop is the game. Rare, Legendary, and Mythical cakes are still slices that enter the same bag. They change what you keep and what you sell; they do not replace the loop. Read how to get rare cakes when you are ready to treat depth and luck as part of the same cycle. Read upgrades when coins sit unused because you cannot decide between spoon and bag.
Standing still on one Common layer forever is a slow version of the loop, not a strategy. Incrementals reward time on the right layer with the right tool. If every swing feels cheap, you need a stronger spoon or a deeper layer, not more idle clicking.
Eight players in one kitchen
Servers hold eight players. You will see other spoons on the same mountain. That is online play, not a single-player kitchen you rent. You can share a layer, walk around someone, or hop to a different stripe of frosting. There is no confirmed player-versus-player combat in the listing, so treat other people as traffic, not opponents. If a layer is crowded, move. The cake is large.
Because the server is small, you will notice the same faces during a session. That does not mean you must party up. Cake Mountain is an incremental you can play next to people without a raid marker. If a friend wants to join, send them the place and land on the same server the usual Roblox way.
Eating is implied, not tutorialized
The listing does not publish an eating tutorial. Two game passes still make the system hard to ignore: Iron Stomach at 149 Robux and 2x Eating Speed at 199 Robux. Those names only make sense if cakes can be eaten as well as sold and bagged. This wiki treats eating as a real limiter or sink that exists beside the bag, without inventing hunger meters, animation lengths, or which cakes are edible.
When the bag, not the spoon, is the bottleneck, open bags and eating. That page is the right home for capacity, implied eating, and why 3x Bag Capacity exists as a 179 Robux pass. This how-to-play article only needs you to know that filling the bag is not the only way a cake can leave your inventory.
Mistakes that stall the loop
Swinging with a full bag is the classic stall. Selling is progress. Another stall is skipping the FUNgry group, which costs you the luck bonus before you ever roll a Rare. A third is buying 2x Sell Value on minute one because the name sounds like “more money.” Sell value multiplies a loop you do not yet understand. Learn the loop in this guide, run the first-session checklist in getting started, then spend.
A fourth stall is treating the plate as a trash slot. Favorites belong on the plate; junk belongs in the sell action. When a slice feels too good to cash, that is the handoff to plate decoration, not a reason to freeze the bag.
Practice until WASD, camera, jump, and tool activate are invisible. Then the interesting decisions start: which layer, which upgrade, which cake to keep. Those decisions live on the sibling guides, not on the control list. Come back to this page only when a new device, a crowded server, or a full bag makes the basics feel broken again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Cake Mountain questions.
What are the default Cake Mountain controls?
Roblox defaults: WASD or thumbstick to move, mouse or drag for camera, space or the jump button to jump, and left click or the tool button to swing the spoon.
What is the core loop?
Dig slices, fill the bag, sell for coins, buy a stronger spoon or bigger bag, then return to the cake. Getting started puts that loop in day-one order.
How many players are on a Cake Mountain server?
Eight. You share the kitchen and the rainbow cake with up to seven other players on an online server.
Is eating a confirmed Cake Mountain mechanic?
It is implied. Iron Stomach and 2x Eating Speed only make sense if eating exists. Details live on bags and eating rather than as invented hunger rules here.
Why should I not stand on one layer forever?
Incrementals reward the right layer with the right spoon. A weak tool on a Common stripe wastes luck rolls. When you want better slices, use how to get rare cakes.
Do I need a custom control scheme?
No. Cake Mountain uses standard Roblox movement and tool activation. Fix camera or shift-lock in the Roblox menu if the kitchen feels awkward.
